Where SLO Women Go for a Reset
Who decided the kids should be off for 10 days in November anyway?
Thanksgiving break is beautiful… in theory. Cozy family time, gratitude, pie, memories, all the things.
But let’s be honest… ten straight days of kids home from school is its own emotional American Gladiator episode.
I love my kids with my whole heart. ALL OF IT - honest!
And I also love having more than five uninterrupted minutes before someone needs a snack, a referee, or help finding the ONE Barbie shoe that has now become “urgent.”
So now that the backpacks are zipped, lunches are packed, and they are finally back in school, the real question is:
Where do SLO County moms go to reset and remember who we are after surviving Thanksgiving break?
If you’re an ambitious mom juggling the SLO life, work deadlines, holiday prep, and the mental load of parenting, here are my go-to spots to recenter.
1. Zen Relax Foot Spa in Atascadero
The fastest way to feel like a functioning adult again.
Thirty minutes here and suddenly I remember that I do, in fact, have a nervous system.
2. @nails on Foothill in SLO
My hidden deep-work sanctuary.
Give me:
💅 a pedicure
💻 my laptop
⏱ one hour of quiet
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. …and I will emerge with both fresh toes and I will know that home inspection inside and out and have the request for repairs drafted and ready to make my buyers dream home a reality.
3. Coffee Shops With Couches
If there’s a couch, I’m there and unapologetically staying.
Truly, there are days where a desk just is NOT going to cut it for my work day. On those days I have myself planning my route based on who has the most comfortable workspace.
Nautical Bean on Parker and Bru Coffeehouse in Atascadero are my personal brain-reset stations.
They’re where I write offers, draft listing remarks, plan, and sometimes even get that inbox to zero.
Because nothing screams “high-functioning woman” like negotiating a real estate deal from a couch with a latte in hand.
4. Cambria… or really any of our beautiful beaches
There’s a little bench overlooking the surfers, my personal ten-minute vacation.
Ten minutes watching waves and I swear I come back a new woman.
The Central Coast has secret healing energy and this is one of my favorite places to access it quickly.
5. Bob Jones Trail
A quick stroll without stops every 5 seconds to assist a child, an actual workout, great views, and an uninterrupted opportunity to finish a full episode of my favorite podcast! Tell me that isn’t therapy.
This is one of my favorite ways to reset my brain between closings, client calls, and end-of-year planning.
6. And My Deeply Honest Favorite
My own home. Quiet. Alone.
Catching up on chores without tiny helpers undoing my progress in real time? Truly blissful.
Sometimes that’s the reset I need most.
Why These Reset Spots Matter
Between the holiday chaos, school calendars, doctor appointments for the germ of the week, end-of-year projects, and our own ambitions, SLO moms are carrying a lot this season.
We’re building careers, raising kids, running households, living the SLO life and somehow prepping for holiday season round two.
Resetting isn’t indulgent! It’s survival.
Living in SLO County gives us the best backdrop to do reset!
This is one of the reasons I love helping families put down roots here, because the lifestyle supports the woman actually living the life.
